Mid February experiences a Heat wave!

Goa along with the west coast of India has been witnessing a heat wave like condition since Saturday February 21, 2015, which is expected to last till Tuesday 24th. Day temperatures as recorded at Panjim have crossed 35C which is 3C above normal.

This is attributed to delayed onset of the cooler winds from west and north west during the day till after 1300 hrs. As a result the dry winds from the east have a field day resulting in heat wave like condition!

Don't forget to skin protection and headgear if you intend to soak in the sun!

January 2015 Temperature Trend in Goa - Hot Days; Cool Nights!

You would be right if you felt that January 2015 was when it felt like winter in Goa!

Of course nothing to talk of this winter compared to winters in Northern Latitudes, but January 2015 was the month when the Minimum temperature recorded at Panjim touched 16C (Jan 6th)! Private recordings in interior Goa, at the base of Western Ghats recorded upto 11C (at Valpoi), the same day.

The average minimum temperature during January 2015 at 19.57C was significantly lower that recorded in October '14 (23.83C), November '14 (21.69C) and December '14 (21.05C).

The average maximum temperature during January '15 at 32.05C maintained its 32 - 33C trend seen during the last 3 months.

January 2015 was also the month, unique in a way, because January 1st recorded the minimum day temperature during the month at 29.4C and January 31st recorded the maximum day temperature during the month at 34.9C!

The second half of January '15 was warmer than the first, particularly early mornings.

The following graphs illustrate these details well!
